Troubleshooting
Nothing shows up
Check that System proxy is on and recording isn't paused (the status command or the toolbar shows both). Some apps use their own proxy setting rather than the system one; point those at your Mac's address and port 9090 by hand.
HTTPS is unreadable or the browser warns
The certificate isn't trusted yet. Click Install CA again and approve the keychain prompt. The certificate must be trusted for SSL in your login keychain; on a device it must also be trusted in the device's certificate settings. Confirm that Decrypt HTTPS is on and the host isn't in a passthrough list.
An app captures nothing even with the certificate trusted
That app pins its certificate: it ships a copy of its server's certificate and rejects any other, including elcapture's, no matter what the system trusts. Bypassing it is a separate step with its own tools (frida on a rooted Android device or emulator). Scope it to apps you build or are authorized to test, and follow how to bypass SSL pinning.
A phone can't connect
Turn on Allow other devices in Network → Devices, confirm the phone and Mac share a Wi-Fi, and use the Mac's LAN IP from the status bar with port 9090. If you set a proxy username and password, enter them on the device too.
The system proxy didn't turn off
elcapture restores your previous proxy settings when you turn it off or quit. If it crashed, run elcapture-cli proxy off, or clear the HTTP and HTTPS proxy in System Settings → Network → Details → Proxies.
