A Reqable alternative for Mac
Reqable is the newcomer that got a lot right: a modern interface, a real API client, a free tier that's actually usable, and it runs almost everywhere. elcapture makes the opposite bet — one platform, done natively, owned outright. Which is better depends entirely on what you're after.
What Reqable is good at
Breadth. It runs on Mac, Windows, Linux and mobile, built with Flutter so one app ships to all of them. The free tier covers a lot, it has a built-in API client, and if you need to debug across a desktop and a phone from the same tool, that reach is the whole point. There's an optional account for syncing. For a mixed-OS team, it's a sensible default.
Where elcapture is different
That same Flutter breadth is why it isn't quite a Mac app. The scrolling, the menus and the text rendering are consistent across platforms rather than tuned to macOS. elcapture is written for Apple silicon only, so the list stays smooth on huge captures and the app behaves like the rest of your desktop.
The rest is about ownership. elcapture needs no account at all — nothing to sign into, nothing synced off your machine — and Pro is a one-time $29, not a recurring plan. Android setup is one step over adb, and the API client can send with a real browser's TLS fingerprint.
