Capture a phone or simulator

The idea is the same as on the Mac: make the device use your Mac as its proxy and trust elcapture's certificate. The extra work is on the device. The Set up devices & apps panel generates the exact proxy address and certificate link for each case.

An iPhone or iPad on your Wi-Fi

  1. Put the device on the same Wi-Fi as your Mac, and allow other devices to connect in Network → Devices.
  2. On the device: Wi-Fi settings → the network → Configure Proxy → Manual, with your Mac's IP (shown in elcapture's status bar) and port 9090.
  3. In a browser on the device open elcapture.cert (or the address the app shows), install the profile, then trust it in Settings → General → About → Certificate Trust Settings.

The device's requests now appear in elcapture. Apps that pin their certificate still refuse it — see pinning.

Android over adb

Since Android 7, apps trust only system certificates by default, so a user-installed one usually isn't enough. The Android panel sets this up over adb when the device allows it (a rooted device or an emulator): per connected device it can Install system CA, Set proxy (via adb reverse) and Clear proxy, and it can Start / Restart / Stop frida for pinning bypass, downloading the matching frida-server for you. Plug the device in with USB debugging on. Full walkthrough: debug an Android app's traffic.

The iOS Simulator

elcapture trusts its certificate in every booted simulator for you — no dragging files into each one. Boot the simulator, run your app, and its traffic shows up with everything else.

A specific language or tool

The setup panel has ready-made guides for Docker, Node.js / Next.js, Python, Go, Rust, Flutter / Dart, React Native, curl and the JVM — each prefilled with the proxy address and the path to the CA bundle. It can also open a terminal with the proxy environment and ca-bundle.pem already set, or launch a browser or Electron app routed through elcapture.

If a device shows nothing, see troubleshooting.
